Although the first day of the Midland tournament was played under glorious sunshine, on the second day torrential downpours meant that all play had to be abandoned. While some grades had clear winners even after one day of play, sadly not all could be awarded.
We had teams in the A, C and Junior divisions and fortunately everyone managed to get in two good games on the first day before the heavens opened. With a smaller club turnout than usual, we were also in the slightly strange position of having a fair bit of time on our hands, rather than rushing between pitches to support and goal judge. Therefore this felt like a very relaxed and much more social tournament, especially on the Saturday evening where we ended up having a large ‘curry and wine’ party by the lorries – the were lots of honourary Celynites that evening!
Although there were no results for the C and Junior grades, Mollie won Best 3 in C, and Lucy and Jess Best 1 and 3 respectively in the Open Juniors.
