Celyn Polocrosse Club

Training

At Celyn we run polocrosse training sessions from January – September. From Jan – March we train on foot at the Northop College sports hall. Once the weather gets better we start training sessions on horseback, usually from the end of March onwards. These sessions start in the arena at Northop and move over to our grass training grounds at Backford as soon as the fields are dry enough. We train throughout the summer months, mainly on weekday evenings once the tournament season begins. To see our venue locations click here.

As well as weekly sessions we also run training camps over 2/3 days. These camps are open to all levels of player, and we also hold a Pony Club polocrosse camp prior to the Pony Club Polocrosse Championships which are held at Cholmondeley Castle, around half an hour from our grounds. All our coaches are either UKCC accredited at levels 1, 2 or 3, or are working towards their UKCC qualification. Our Chief Coach, Tom Simkin, is one of only a few UKCC Polocrosse Coach Educators and UKCC Level 3 coaches in the UK. He is also Chief Coach of the UKPA, and sits on the Pony Club polocrosse committee.

If you are a new starter that wants to get playing, an existing member looking for a club, or would just like some more information please contact a committee member through our Contact Us page.
